"Bess" is a peaceful retreat nestled among the balsam and hemlock along the southwestern shore of Back Lake, on Spooner Road. Other resorts in our area claim to have the finest accommodations in Pittsburg, but do they measure up to Tall Timber's Bess?

The gas fireplaced great room is highlighted by a cathedral ceiling with exposed beams, skylights and clerestory windows. Every room takes full advantage of the expansive views and is centered around the large lakeside deck, leading to the private boat dock.

The master bedroom has a full bath with an inviting two-person whirlpool tub overlooking the lake. The second bedroom also has a full bath.

Bess is completely furnished, including: a 37" LCD TV featuring cable; VCR and DVD Player; 20" Cable televisions in the master and guest bedrooms; six speaker stereo system with CD player; all linens; laundry room; portable phone system with handsets in the great room, master bedroom and guest bedroom; stainless steel gas BBQ grill on the deck; and a fully equipped kitchen with ice maker, microwave and dishwasher.

Sleeping accommodations include a queen bed in the master bedroom with a plush pillowtop mattress, a queen bed and twin bunk beds in the second bedroom, and a queen sleep sofa in the living room.

There is no daily maid service and pets are not allowed at Bess.

"Bess is best! We stayed at this beautiful lakeside house on four occasions in the past. Three of the prior visits were weeklong stays. We loved it, all of it, including the magnificent call of the loons and the spectacular hatch of the aquatic hex flies that stimulates the trout to bite big time. We enjoyed our home cooked meals, the ambiance of the lakeside setting truly enhances the dining experience. The house had a new gas range and is now provided with WIFI."
“This time we stayed at the Bess cabin, which is right on the lake, and we loved it. It was perfect for two couples with a common area/kitchen in the middle of the cabin and the two bedrooms with queen beds on either side of the common area. The bottom line is we have been very pleased with every stay at Tall Timber. The people are very friendly and very accommodating, the lake is very peaceful and beautiful and the cabins are great!”
