Wading Into Our Third Decade of Fly Fishing Classes in New Hampshire's Unspoiled Wilderness!
Beginning anglers and experienced fly fishers alike will appreciate a weekend of fly fishing classes at Tall Timber's Fly Fishing Schools in Pittsburg, NH. Broadside's enriching classes in the art of fly fishing are held on the Upper Connecticut River of northern New England, offering some of the best trout and salmon fishing in the northeast.
In 2015, Tall Timber began offering a Two Handed Casting Clinic under the instruction of IFFF Certified Two Handed Casting Instructor William FlySpoke. The clinic explores the possibilities of fishing our northeast rivers for trout and salmon using Two Handed Rod techniques and equipment.
Details on our 2016 classes are below.

Fly Fishing Schools
You’re invited to join the world-class instructors of Broadside International on the productive upper Connecticut River during the peak of our trout season where you’ll discover how to enjoy successful days astream.
For almost thirty years now, Tall Timber has hosted successful fly fishing schools offered by Broadside's International angling team. The program provides an in-depth introduction to the wonderful world of trout and trout fishing with the fly.
All aspects of the sport are covered
in the Simplified Fly Fishing program.
Each Weekend will include fly fishing excursions to nearby waters during "peak" times. Instructors Angus Boezeman (left) and Alan Erdossy bring over 40 years of teaching experience to the Tall Timber programs. In addition to sharing their enthusiasm for fly fishing with anglers from Japan to the Canadian Maritimes, their International Exchange brings the finest fly fishing craftspersons to the world market.
From your first knot to the "tug-tug-tug"of a trout,
TTL courses mean successful days astream
and afloat all season long.
We received the following letter from a former student:
Tom & Everyone:
Please pass this along to Alan and Angus if you can....
Many thanks for everything this past weekend. The fly fishing school was superb, much better than I expected. The pleasure of Alan and Angus' company was surpassed only by their knowledge and enthusiasm of this great sport. I feel like I have learned from the very best. I probably have.
I'll be back up as soon as possible to get back into the river......thanks again for everything. This was a great experience.

Learn the discipline of two handed spey casting with spey and switch rods this spring at Tall Timber, under the tutelage of IFFF certified two handed casting instructor William FlySpoke. Learning to use spey casts on switch rods to swing flies for big trout is the goal of this course, and springtime in northern New England is a great time to swing streamers for those big trout and salmon on the Connecticut River.
Join us at Tall Timber for a day of learning and fly fishing on the Connecticut River this May!
“In an ever evolving path, two hand casting for trout, salmon and striped bass is on the upswing. There is now a well developed advantage in using this old world casting style when it meets the modern fly rod and scientifically formulated lines available today. Some might define the perfect cast as one with a very tight loop and with extreme accuracy. I say the perfect cast is the one that gets my fly from the time it stops fishing till it’s fishing again in the quickest amount of time. It’s the one that will drift my fly under complete control due to a longer rod and the greater amount of water I can cover.
As a Certified Federation of Fly Fishers Two Hand Casting Instructor, I will share my 15 years experience in the firm basics of two hand casting as well as the fishing advantages possible with the various line styles available. Come join me for a well thought out and planned learning experience. You will leave this class with a far greater understanding of the two hand advantage that will increase your range of ability substantially.”

Two Handed Rod
Casting Clinics
Spey / Switch Rod Casting Clinic
Pres. by FlySpoke
Each and every cast from lift to follow through has a tempo and rhythm that is preformed with the application and removal of power with tempo. Momentum is maintained by having the rod tip move at the correct speed and direction to command the line’s path. The rod needs to be bent and remain bent until the final forward movement ceases.
Casts that are airborne, or what is called splash and go, are especially superior when used in this way. Casts like the Double Spey, Snap Tip(T) and Circle Spey rely on water borne loading. They have a distinctive placement of the anchor and then a sweep that becomes the continuous action. Anchor placement is critical on all casts and styles.
This is the way of the Modern Two Hand style. Casts are fluid with continuous motion and therefore have a continuous loading of the rod. Momentum is adjusted to control the direction and position of the line.
Spey Casting Clinic Fees are
$406.00 and include:
